This open access book brings together some of the most eminent scholars of international trade to celebrate the scholarly, diplomatic, and institution-building achievements of Thomas Cottier, Professor Emeritus of International Economic Law at the University of Bern and founder of the World Trade Institute (WTI).  In her chapter, Prof. Christine Kaufmann reflects on the origins of the current international economic system rooted in the shared vision for peace in Europe and the contribution of Thomas Cottier to Switzerland's partaking in this vision through the work of the WTI.

Wie der Titel bereits vorwegnimmt, behandeln sie darin drei verschiedene Ansätze, wie in Theorie und Praxis die nachhaltige Unternehmensführung durch Regulierungsinstrumente vorangetrieben wird und werden kann.

Prof. Dr. Christine Kaufmann und Serge Biggoer kommentieren darin unter dem Titel "Konzernverantwortung" die neuen Art. 964a-c OR zur nichtfinanziellen Berichterstattung und Art. 964j-l OR zu den Sorgfaltspflichten bezüglich Konfliktmineralien und Kinderarbeit.

This article discusses the impacts of digitalisation on responsible business conduct and the relevant case law by OECD National Contact Points and shows that as a sui generis instrument of international law the Guidelines can play an important role in accomodating business as the key driver of digital transformation and in addressing the related risks on people, the environment and society.

In this article Prof. Christine Kaufmann and Dr. Nicolas Bueno outline the content of the adopted human rights due diligence legislation in Switzerland that will reflect the due diligence standard for Swiss companies for the years to come and aims to inform policy makers in other countries by describing the political struggle underlying the adoption of mandatory human rights due diligence in Switzerland.

In this book chapter Prof. Christine Kaufmann looks at the role of trust in global supply chains and responsible business conduct in general, with a focus on the discussion about shaping a post COVID-19 economy that is inclusive and works for all.

Die vorliegende Publikation des SKMR gibt einen Überblick, wie sich digitale Technologien im Alltag auf die Grund- und Menschenrechte auswirken. In einem ersten Teil behandelt sie wichtige neue Technologien und Anwendungen sowie die relevanten rechtlichen Grundlagen. In einem zweiten Teil erläutern die Autorinnen anhand von ausgewählten Fallbeispielen, welche Grund- und Menschenrechte bei der Entwicklung und Anwendung von digitalen Technologien betroffen sind. Das Buch leistet damit einen Beitrag zur Diskussion, wie Grund- und Menschenrechte und Digitalisierung miteinander vereinbar sind.
