Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court - Call for Applications

General Information

The Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (FIAMC) is recognised as the oldest and most esteemed student competition within the field of investment protection law. Annually, in June, the international final round brings together student teams from around the world to present arguments on complex cases before arbitral tribunals comprising leading practitioners and academics.

The case concerns an investment dispute between a fictional state and a foreign investor. It is always based on historical events documented in primary sources, but assessed under the rules of contemporary investment protection law. Previous cases have addressed disputes originating from ancient Greece, the early modern period, and the 19th century.

In contrast to other moot courts, FIAMC does not require the submission of comprehensive written pleadings. The focus lies directly on the oral hearings. Teams typically comprise three to four students, and their preparation is generally compatible with their regular academic commitments.
