Description

The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO law simulates a dispute settlement procedure of the World Trade Organization (WTO) between two parties. More than 100 teams from all over the world participate in this annual Competition. First, the participating teams hand in written submissions of both the complainant and the respondent party. They then plead the case orally before a fictitious expert WTO panel in a European partner city of ELSA. There, the European representatives for the world final will be determined in a regional selection. At the world final (which normally takes place at the WTO headquarters in Geneva) the 20 best teams from all over the world compete against each other.

Participation is open to master students of law with a strong interest in international economic law. The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition provides for an excellent opportunity to develop written and oral advocacy skills and to meet students and trade law experts from all over the world. Students taking part in the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO law will obtain 18 ECTS. The credits can also be counted as a master thesis.
