Objective:
The purpose of this course is to provide theoretical insight on a number of selected issues of law and policy of the European Union, as well as bilateral relations between the European Union and Switzerland. A special focus lies on the discussion of current developments and challenges (e.g. Brexit, fundamental rights, democratic participation,external relations, future of the EU and its relations with third countries).

Evaluation:
The students will be evaluated on the basis of:

  • A presentation on one of the topics discussed during the lectures (1/2 of the grade)
  • An oral exam at the end of the course (1/2 of the grade)
  • Active participation during the lecture will be taken into account for determining the final grade.

Student Presentations:
 The student presentations should last 15 minutes. They should describe in a clear and comprehensive manner the selected topic.

Additional Information:

The oral exam will touch upon one or several of the issues presented during the lectures and student presentations as well as any matters discussed thereafter. Therefore, course attendance is mandatory and active participation will be taken into account for your final grade.
