Reto Walther obtained a Master of Law of the University of Lucerne as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Business Law of the University of Applied Sciences Zurich. During his studies he gathered professional experience as a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Karin Müller, Professor of Private Law, Commercial and Business Law and Civil Procedure Law at the University of Lucerne and as an external research assistant at the Center for Social Law of the UAS Zurich. Earlier he gained work experience as a student court clerk at the Cantonal Insurance Court of Zurich and as a summer trainee in a Zurich business law firm. Before his studies, Reto Walther worked in the banking industry. Reto Walther pursues his PhD research project under the working titel "'Subsidiarity Shaping' Procedural Review in the European Court of Human Rights: a Model, its Conceptual Foundations and its Legitimation Potential".
